hi guys,

i'm from malaysia too.. glad to know that there a thread for malaysians.. but strangely enough, i've been using nokia n900 since April 2010 and i only met one person that also using nokia n900..

anyway, my only complaint is the battery life. mine can only last for 4-5 hours after fully charged. am thinking of switching to different phone e.g. HTC Desire or iPhone4. but what hold me back is the built-in web browser on nokia n900.. no other phone (as far as i know) can offer the desktop-kind experience when you browse internet.. and i love the integration of multiple IM accounts in Contact.

hopefully we can have a fully functional androids running on nokia n900 in the near future.

oh and another complaint is lack of applications.. if you notice, most of the service provider will have an application for iPhone.. while now some of the applications are developed on QT platform, it might takes sometimes to get the buy in from the service providers before they embark on that journey..

just my 2 cents....

if you are after ready-made simple-to-use graphically-appealling apps, well, you have definitely bought the wrong unit I afraid. iphone or android could be your better choice.

About your battery life, or rather i will share what i have done to get much much better battery life than yours. I can get 3-4 days standby (could be longer but I have not gone that far with endurance test).

I have installed:
1. 3G/2G/Dual mode selection applet - 2G consumes less if you don't need high speed surfing nor video call
2. wifi switcher - make sure you turn it off when not using
3. turn off your bluetooth also as you don't want unnecessary battery drain.
4. i turn my screen brightness all the way down. You just make sure you don't turn the brightness more that what you need that's all
5. close all the programs you don't need in the background

To give you an analogy:
you bought a ferrari which is capable of 9000rpm and 320km/h. but I don't think you would want to rev all the way up to 9000rpm in city traffic nor would you max out the 320km/h on PLUS.

Same with n900, the power is there, use it wisely.

gjoe, Just to share my battery life result:

I started using my N900 about 3 months ago, current battery life still approx 1day to 1.5days. WIFI is on 24hrs, 3G, average call usage, music and general tweaking around some applications. I don't save on applications and widgets (what's the point of having this great phone when you need to skim on the cool features, right?). I'm not familiar with tweaking the kernel stuffs (though I wish I did) so it's original settings mainly.

The N900 is a wonderful phone. I have no idea about development stuffs and I believe we have all the apps we need to download from here and Ovi store to maximize the phone capabilities. The rest of the competitor stuff is purely marketing.

I save all my music on the phone; it's now my primary camera; notes for all my research stuffs; other applications to entertain me. Great phone? So far the best I've used from Nokia.
