My brand new 770 is not working
I called the online sales number to get an Return authorisation
She said I need to speak to a support centre partner, but did not have a number.

I scanned the website, got some numbers, most of whom did not know what a 770 was.

In the end I spoke to carphone warehouse support centre who said that as I had purchased direct from Nokia I need to speak to them. She gave me the customer helpline number.

I called them, they said that they only delt with club nokia members.
She said that the nokia online sales SHOULD BE the place to go.

I called the sales line back. She told me that I should just send them an email requesting an RMA. I have done this, but no response or ack that they have my email.

I tried to register with club nokia but that does not recognise my serial number !!

I tried to send the support line an email. But the site has gone down or the page is not there!!!

Help!!!!

This is the WLAN number under the battery, I think. I agree with you, it sounds frustrating to me; this is a large, established company, and these support problems should have been worked out.

May depend on the country. I called the phone support, they understood the problem and pointed me to the local Nokia shop. There is one in the town where I live. I went there, and despite the fact that he never saw such a thing, he said: yes, I'll handle that etc.
I just did not follow through for the simple reason that my device would have to be sent to a central place. Since it's only a minor annoyance with the screen, I did not want to not have my 770 for a while, so I'll wait some more weeks. In particular since I assume that they are still on short suppy, and I don't know if repair infrastructure is already in place.

It does not matter that it had been bought online, they said.

I ordered mine through nokia usa. I had some initial problems and had to exchange my first one (sad times). I had no problem contacting support ever (called them many times now) and my new device is working as I expected the first to work. the number I used is

(888)-256-2098 ---- Nokia USA. They also list other numbers in the recording when you call them if you need specifics. Worked for me. I am on device number 2.

Only 3 days? I've got my RMA about two weeks ago. I haven't heard yet anything from local TNT yet... I have already sent two e-mail enquiries to Nokia's online-sales about this matter...
They must be really busy out there or then their strategy is just to play time until I'll forget the whole mess...

MikeC (or anyone else in the UK) - did your problem end up resolved? I had a similar experience, and made about 25 phone calls before eventually it was picked up by a service centre called Communicaid. But that was a month ago, and when I call Communicaid, they just say they'll chase it up, but nothing happens. There seems to be no-one at Nokia to complain to who will chase it up on my behalf. Any tips anyone on finding help at Nokia?

Good lord, what a debacle. I'm sorry you guys are going through that... just remember, don't take it out on the droids at the end of the phone. There's about 5 layers between them and the people who call the shots. So what did end up happening? (I'm a Canadian who drove to Michigan to snag a 770 at CompuStar or whatever the hell it was, my support options are going to be next to nil)
