Interesting to see how the poll is going.

Personally, if the device comes out at $480 im going to pass on it. For what I specifically need, its too expensive to justify selling my n800 and paying the extra $$$.

It needs to come out at no more than $400 for me consider buying it. I think $375 would seal the deal. Or they could charge $450 and throw in the navteq subscrition.

Not that it is a big concern, but im leaning more toward a Samsung q1 ultra. Reasons being:

viewable screen outdoors (like the n810)
i can do GPS on it (like the n810)
i can watch any movie i want (not possilbe on n810)
it has a simple, awesome touch interface for music/videos (n810 does not)
i can multitask high memory operations (like run GPS in the back while playing a movie)

im tired of walking out to my car with an archos, a nokia tablet, my cell phone, and a laptop. its getting old.

Why is that not possible?
In OS2008 you get:

and mplayer that actually plays anything.

And who needs GPS while playing a movie? Which also would be possible on with OS2008 anyway I guess.

Considering video watching, the improvement on the N810 release is definitely real. For instance google videos (video.google.com) - if you download any movie they have for "Sony PSP / iPod video" there, it plays along really nicely also on the N810. (Well, except for one interesting bug.) But full screen really smooth video anyway, even I was suprised over how good it was.

i have a giant divx collection (about 200 movies) that I dont feel like reconverting onto the n810. ill give it a strong look though, see if i cant make it work.

I'm own n800 and probably will buy n810 if (and when) reasonable priced. As a features I see keyboard, GPS and smaller size. But as a major drawback I see one SD mini slot vs TWO FULL-sized on n800. I'm surprised that Nokia did stupid thing and removed this killer feature

You left out an important option for the poll:

I own a nokia n800 and will probably buy the n810.

(I don't own both, just an n800)

If I were to go that route, I'd get a pepperpad 3. I don't want a windows machine.

Though, I do like the keyboard layout of the q1 and pepperpad. I think it's the right ergonomic design, but I don't think you can shrink that down to work on something the size of the N800/N810. Wibrain is trying to, but the device ends up being too long.

sorry about that. Choose option "2" in this case.
