How about adjusting the Settings > Profile :
-Key sounds, or
-Touch screen sounds

I once posted a bug report that mutated into a feature request. The issue back then was how quickly the sound system could respond to a key press. Basically, would the sound be played in a timely manner even if the system was bogged down in some cpu heavy task or other. This was back when the N8x0 was hot, tho...

key sounds are for physical keys.
touch screen sounds are for whenever the screen registers a press, not specifically when the osk get a key pressed.
You know just like in some android devices.
I'm a fan of physical keyboard and i don't like to look on the screen everytime i used virtual keyboard.
But sometimes it's easier & faster to use virtual than the physical keyboard.
So it would be helpful if there's some kind of sound to tell that you have entered a word.
