Hi Friends,

Apparently I'm missing some application packages:
python2.5-qt4-common(=4.7.4-maemo0)

How to correct this issue?

History:
Followed pr1.3 update from n900 device App Manager.
Hooked up to the pc, followed the instruction from OVI Suite.

Update shown as success on PC.
Device still shows 20.2010.36-2.203.1

Ran backup.
Some apps won't re-install due to the above issue.

Sorry if the thread is out there, I did look, but found nothing relevant to N900.

Thanks in advance.

it will ask permission to install few python packages

Hello raaj13,

Many thanks for quick help!
Tried your suggestion, but it didn't allow me to install the dependent app.

Should I try the full command: -
apt-get install python2.5-qt4-common(=4.7.4-maemo0)

??
Thanks again for your time & help.

raaj13:
From xTerm:
python2.5-qt4-common is already the newest version

Following this, when installing app, original error message reads:
application packages missing: python2.5-qt4-common(=4.7.4-maemo0)

Also rebooted between re-running the above to double check install.

Attilla77:
Link to a clarified statement?
Thank you for taking the time though.

All, thanks again in advance.

when you type as root:
Code:
dpkg -l python2.5-qt4-common
(the cmd option -l is lower case L, for list)

it should show you a line where in the third column you see the version number: 4.7.4-maemo0
the line must begin with ii
(which means program installed and config files installed)

if you see an earlier version number or not ii, you have a problem. Than report that line here for more help.
OTH if you have ii and 4.7.4-maemo0 then your to-be-installed app has a problem...

I had that problem with my brothers n900 as well. i updated mine to PR1.3 befor his, i was able to restore all my programs fine but when i did his i was unable to install swappolube. missing python-qt4-common dependency. i tried installin the dependency manually with apt-get but the version it installed appeared to be a updated package 4.7.5. eventually i just gave up and installed swappolube no gui instead

Just for info,

Attila77 has understood what causes the problem - he's added a quick post earlier and notified the people that can fix it.

Don't mess your systems or waste your time trying to fix this. Wait a day and will be fixed in the repos.

hope it helps
