When I bought my N900 I was shocked when I realized that the mobile needs these tons of apps. to have all the options I need !

I installed 'Petrovich' to be able to send Media files, and suddenly I was sending a song to my friend and It started making stupid things as it tells connection failed or we pair our devices so I send the file again and then connection FAILED to blah blah blah !

I can't handle this anymore so can you please help ?

I also wanted to ask about an anti-virus to install..

Is the new software allows me to send all media files directly ?

I need some information about this case

0. Welcome to the forums.

1. You don't need Petrovich since PR1.2 as the functionality is built in.

2. Just like the rest of the Linux family, you don't require antivirus.

3. What do you want to send directly and to where.

4. Which case would you like to know about?

5. Please use Power Search in future as all these points are covered else where.

Maybe if you mention what the 'blah blah blah' actually said, someone here might be able to help.

Anti-virus? No need. This is linux.

"Software to send all media files directly"? - to where? Maybe email will do?

Welcome to the forums, and congratulations on your acquisition of the best phone/mobile computer around

EDIT: Dammit... beaten again!

I ran into an issue where I would set my XP machine to receive a file and then my N900, which was paired and connected would fail to send the file with a message "Failed to connect to mycomputer"

I solved this by deleting the pairing from the phone and computer, pairing from the phone, then pairing from the computer. Now I can send files from the long press context menu. Hope this helps.

bluetooth is often a bigjoke and pairingproblems or similar and not only related to just n900.

I had an idea to write a simple tinyserver on pc and a sharingplugin on n900. so I can send files and links/clipboard etc betwen n900 and desktopcomputer and viseversa.

But as always I just get ideas but never get time to .start development damn...

This will no doubt be because the amount of data transfered to view webpages on the N900. Maemo will display webpages as they are supposed to be viewed including ALL of the flash content and whatever else they may have, where as many other nokia/symbian phone will be redirected to the cut down flash-free Mobile versions of a companies webpage.

Downloading Apps through 3g connection will also add to the cost too as Maemo apps tend to be larger than their Symbian counter parts.

Remember, the N900 is an Internet Tablet first and a phone second. You may want to look into getting an unlimitted dataplan.
