No one is doubting anybody's identity.
It's just that unlocking the cell code should NEVER be discussed on forums. I thought somebody stated this before and ppl in that thread agreed to it.
But anyway like I said noone is doubting your identity or your intentions but everyone should also take into concern that any thief or anyone who finds a n900 lying around can come to the forums and post a request for help and unlock it.
I mean it can be devastating if the personal information of the original owner falls into wrong hands.
PPL should think about it before posting "workarounds " for the unlock code

creamy i have the box but no receipt i bought the phone second hand from an ad in the paper 5 to 6 mts ago, the phone works fine but i wanted to no the lock as i could have problems later my kids play games on the phone and mite lock it. iv gone through sudo gainroot and got the root but no luck with john the ripper, its as if im going through interrogation . i could try flashing but iv put a lot of things on just the way i want the phone so if you can help thanks if not thanks anyway

That is why there is also email-scams and other frauds. It is all about trust.

I cannot resist to remind that many N900 users trust blindly what they see in the URL-string when they install packages to their N900 with wget and 'dpkg -i'
