That would involve me learning to program in the languages involved, that would be somthing you can call "huge" without me questioning your judgment

I'm not asking someone to carve a wheel out of a mountain with their bare teeth, i'm just indicating that i would appreciate if someone that is sitting near that wheel at the top of the hill gave it a nudge so it will start rolling down.

I don't think that you quite understand how hard it really is.

Regardless of how easy it is, developers have absolutely no incentive to create it. The N900 will never replace a dedicated camera that has been released in the last few years. Hell, my 4 year old camcorder craps all over the N900 in terms of recording quality.

I don't think you can do even half the things you can do with a N900 with your dedicated video camera...

My video camera > my N900's video camera.

I don't see how you reached the conclusion that my video camera is capable of the same things as the N900. I stated that my camcorder has far better recording quality of the N900.

Can you make SIP calls over 3G with it? Can you play hardware accelerated 3d WebOS games on it? Can you run OpenOffice like the one on desktop machines on it? Can you edit OpenStreet maps on it? Can you run fluid dynamics simulations in it? Can you write and run Python scripts in it? How about running DOS programs? What score does it get on the acid3 test? Can you use it as a WiFi hotspot? What about cracking WEP? What FPS do you get on the Quake engine? If you throw it up does it tell you how high you threw it? Can you VNC both to AND from it? I could continue.....

Regarding your edit, what is the point of havinga professional camera if all you can do with it is use it as a camera (and paper weight) ? I got decent video camera, it's sitting on a shelf gathering dust, while the N900 keeps my fingers (and pockets) warm everyday, and if i need to photograph or video somthing while i'm on the street i would never reach my video camera in time, but my N900 is always there.

I'm pretty sure you're exhibiting the Straw Man fallacy. You could continue but now, you just look like a *****.

I shall reiterate. My video camera is better than the recording quality in the N900 and ALWAYS will be. The N900 will never replace my video camera for recording videos.

Read my posts before you reply. There should be a basic intelligence test before people are valid to register for this forum.

Then use the phone as it is intended. It was never intended to be a replacement for a video camera and never will be. If you would like a mobile phone with the capability of replacing a dedicated camera, the Nokia N8 is apparently the best alternative.

That would obviously sacrifice many advantages that the N900 has but that would be the best option. The N900 will never have a camera that will satisfy anyone except people that really do not care about the recording quality.

If you plan on recording videos on a regular basis and don't care about the capabilities of the N900, buy a more capable device.
