If the battery completely dies, I have to let the device sit OFF on the charger(AC or USB) for ~20 minutes. If I do not wait, the device might boot fully and then it seems to stop charging and dies instantly. If I do wait, It still seems to stop charging and will die within minutes(or however long it can run for on the charge). It not does matter if I unplug/replug the charger. If I let the thing charge OFF, then remove the charger, boot without the charger, then do a normal shutdown , reboot AGAIN without the charger, it will charge normally ONLY after this second boot. This happens only from a fully drained battery. Is this a known problem or am I cursed?

Strange, seems to rank with the solutions that involved putting the N900 in the freezer.

You should get an external charger, then you won't have to worry about this. Get some spare batteries and you'll never have to worry about a drained battery again; just keep them charged and put in a fully charged one when you run out.
