WRT updating it, I don't have time for tweakr at the moment, so it can
be considered discontinued (as in: I do not intend to do any work on
tweakr in the foreseeable future).
The good news is, tweakr is open source: you can add a German
translation if you want. In fact, you're encouraged to fork it!
Search for it on Maemo's Garage and you can download the source code.

Why not use ProfilesX, instead?
As for your question regarding the merging of apps: No. All those apps are quite different. Some run all the time, some don't and, IMHO, their intended use differs largely from one another

What's the state of ProfilesX? Nicolai has never promoted this thing to Extras-testing.
There seems to be a lot of apps in Extras-devel that sound ready for regular use, but nobody ever promotes them.
recently I began to use tweakr more often again.
But the fact it messes up my profile settings (opened through status menu)
makes me open this thread.
without tweaker installed:
with tweakr installed:
I really hope this tweakr gets updated.
- Also, meanwhile there are other nice plugins/apps that the tweakr options could get merged to.
Wouldn't it be nice to have shortcutd, tweakr, advanced clock plugin, bootscreen manager and theme customizer all in one plugin/addon/app
