make a folder named "private" and the content of that folder, either a picture or video will not appear on your photo viewer or media player.

Hey all thanks for the replies so far... wot i was really hoping for was a way to lock a foler with a password.....but im guessing theres nothing out their for the n900. ill look at setting up folders but this is not ideal at all. to be honest i cant believe in this day and age a passworded folder isnt already on the n900. i do like this phone as there are so many tweeks.. but im looking at the vast amount of apps for the iphone and the android and trust me when i say im pondering my next move!!!!!. the n900 is now falling behind big style!.

Create an ext3 partition on your SD card, move your private pictures there, then remove the SD card. Afterwards only insert your the SD card and mount it when you want to view those images and are sure no one else will be handling the device.

Just use truecrypt. Create a crypted file and when you wanna use it just mount it on /media so you will see it on standard file manager when you want like it is a folder and unmount it to hide it. Without password none else will be able to mount it back.

yes it works, but can we protect this or other folder by some password
