Dear Community,

After a week of continuous usage i decided to upgrade all applications (including MyContacts) and then to reboot because the device became unresponsive.

The device rebooted normally, but now it does not finish loading the desktop. It goes online and seems to startup, but widgets do not show, contacts do and i have a homescreen filled with shortcuts. This screen with shortcuts do appear and disappear continuously (within 15-20 sec.) until the device reboots.

I tried to uninstall/reinstall several desktop specific apps (Theme Customizer, Desktop Activity) with no success. I booted power Kernel and the Stock Kernel - same Problem.

Now i have no Clue what to do. I do not want to reflash, because it takes so much time.

In terminal with "df" I noticed that i have two rootfs mounted (see attachment). Might this be the source of the problem? But i do not know how to get rid of ubi0:rootfs (i did not have this before)

Any Ideas?

Thanks

I have the same two rootfs's mounted. Not anything to be concerned about.

Can you list all apps that you currently have installed?

yes the apps are loading (all). but besides the contacts there is nothing on the desktop.
when it comes to widgets or shortcuts there is nothing that really stays.
also i can start apps until the device reboots (after maybe 1-2 mins).

to list all apps - i don't know how to do it. But i have a lot installed... Maybe 6-8 Screens full.

Do you happen to know certain apps that might cause this Problem?

I am running PR 1.3 & Multiboot with Powerkernel 45.

Can you boot into a Terminal using Ctrl+Shift+X? Or launch it as per normal?

If so then you may want to try to run the following:

Code:
killall hildon-desktop
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade -y
You can also try the following if the others don't have the desired effect:

Code:
apt-get -f install
dpkg --configure -a

Sorry for the late feedback - i had to goto a meeting.

Code #1 did not help and Code #2 neither.
The symptoms remained the same. is there a place where i can prevent the system from starting the desktop at all? something like a startup procedure where i could comment out the loading of the desktop?

Also i notice that when runnning the command "ps" i have several tasks running twice (eg. hildon-home, hildon-desktop, hildon-status-menu and others) is this normal?

and Hildon home has a constant CPU load of maybe 35% until the device reboots.

I sorted out the problem or at least i found a sloution myself. At the base of this thread:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...+configuration
i deleted the file home.plugin so after that the hildon-desktop managed to load again - probably because it did not have to load any widget anymore.

once started up again i found out that the rss application did not start - so i had to delete the config files of rss as well.

my conclusion is that the rss widget caused the problem - because i had this widget installed and it might have referred to the application rss which was unable to run.

thanks for the help here - the n900 needs a forum like this - otherwise one would just be helpless and probably unable to use the phone at all.
