Hey guys could do with some help on this one.

I decided to reflash my N900 as my RootFS was minced and no matter how much advice I took on reducing its size nothing was helping at all. I decided to flash both the RootFS and the eMMC and restart with a nice clean system....or so I thought.

I have downloaded the following 2 files:

RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin
RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.203.1_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM.bin

found at - http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php

Ok so once downloaded I flashed the Vanilla first with:
flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f

Which gave me the result - Image(s) flashed successfully in 27.030 s (9468 kB/s)!

Then I flashed the combined image using:
flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.203.1_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM.bin -f -R

Which gave a result of a lot of information ending with - USB device found found at bus 002, device address 024.
Raw data transfer EP found at EP2.
Using flashing protocol Mk II.

I am then returned to my prompt and the phone buzzs, looks like its going to restart but doesn't. Then when I boot up the phone it presents me with what looks like a window system but all the text is squares, as in [] [] [] [].

I click any button it takes me to the desktop and its the same, all text is [][][][] and there is no background etc.

What the hell did I do wrong, are the files I have chosen right, did I do the commands wrong or in the wrong order?

I have read the reflash Wiki, its where I got all the info from, please help cause I have no idea what to do next.

Oh yeah, its a UK variant.

I got this problem once. When you finish to flash the emmc, plug off the phone from the PC, put off your battery and then insert it again in the Phone, then flash it with the firmware.
Try to not put the "-R" at the end of the command line:
Code:
flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.203.1_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM.bin -f

I think you made the wrong turn(No I'm sure!)
You should flash first the COMBINED IMAGE before flashing the EMMC

Whenever I've done it I've flashed the eMMC first (as per wiki guide), worked for me both times I wanted to do a full flash.

IDIOT !!!!.

Dont listen to him he aint got a clue, just reflash and as Boemien said leave off the -r at the end on the first image then go straight to the last image and unless you got a faulty usb which i doubt... all will be ok eventually haha.

Dont matter at all which way round you flash contrary to belief as it always comes right in the end.

Flash away you can do no damage at all.
