Okay, sounds like the index/cache is out of date. Try running "tracker-processes -r" to clear the index (this will mean it'll have to reindex all media on the phone again, so could take a while), then launch Photos/Media Player to kick the indexer back into action.

Btw, "Safely remove device" in windows is there for a reason.
No no, smart arse. The Torrent downloading app Transmission locks up fairly frequently when it's doing the initial copying files to memory card. When this happens there is sometimes no choice but to kill Transmission and this sometimes renders the files as Read Only.

Yes, the software is in Devel. But it isn't down to carelessness that this problem occurs.

had exactly the same problem cept mine came from a downloaded theme that i unzipped and it worked for me, i'd like to say the search feature worked for me but i'm afraid it was google that came up with this result. quality result though

We have read only files problem with torrents and svn and the solution is to first check the filesystem.

All you have to do is install Tracker Cfg and check EnableWatching, save it and reboot. I had same problem with photos.
