Ubuntu for me on a USB 1 first reported no USB device found, then the next line it found it and ran. (This was after each flasher command.)

Being new to Ubuntu I assumed it was just polling until it found the right config, then executed.

Perhaps some of these problems are with USB 1.x.

Other than that hic-up, everything went well.

if yes, what was your process? thank you.

Going to communications -> gizmo will install gizmo. However I did not find any video capabilities in gizmo even though launcher shortcut says "Gizmo (Video & IM).

As someone already answered, Navicore is called Wayfinder now, it works fine as far as free functionality is concerned, routing is not yet available.

GPE Calendar is not ported yet AFAIK.

Doesn't seem to be working at the moment. It prompted to add a new repository, that worked fine, then it downloaded the app (about 5 MB) and that completed. But the install aborts about 1/3 of the way through. Hopefully they update the package soon to get it working again.

I have installed gizmo, when os2008 was leaked, I can connect to gizmo for windows v4beta with video and do video chat.

You just dialog a contact in gizmo for n800, and the video comes up.

I remember I had a long delay too, I though it had hung and was going to kill it, when it resumed and completed installation. Maybe their server is slow?

so you actually have gizmo (voice, video and i.m working for you on the 800 with the 2008 os? i'm going to try it right now. nope, download 4.23mb, then installs to about the 25% point and fails. application manager claims it's 'installable' though. glad i kept my n770 now. i like the new os, but i want to have maemo mapper and gizmo with us when we go to europe in a week. though i have some small issues with maemo mapper i do feel in many ways it's a superior ap over navicore

I have OS2008 on N800, the gizmo version in N800 is v4.0.0 (94) and windows version is v4.0.(v319) with video running. i also had gizmo video in os2007 but it used to crash a lot that I rarely used it.

I have a similar problem witn Puppy Linux, which is not related to Ubuntu. I have been unable to boot staying connected to usb after at least 30 tries. Each time I see the usb icon and it disappears.

I have successfully flashed my N800 about 20 times from Windows XP.

That's good news! I know a few people have had brief success but if this is reliable I think its a breakthrough.

I'll try to install Gizmo again a bit later.

p.s. Realized after I posted that the picture shows what I asked about it working both ways.
