I bought my baby in Feb.2010, and after having it fall in my coffee , almost die, and then use it with a coffee stained screen for almost 6 months before i could afford to buy another screen, it was my first time opening any phone and trying to fix it, and im glad that it was the n900, cos it taught me alot.....lets put it this way, i never thought i would using something like x terminal and linux! i had no idea what linux was pre n900!

Then i had to cut down my use cos of work, i needed something light and a bit easier to use with one hand so i moved to android, specifically i went for the htc wildfire, and allthough it was the budget version of th desire, i had something to compare to the n900, since the wildfire was running a 534 mhz processor. and being honest with myself, i was getting bored of the n900(shame on me!) :-)....so i used the htc for about 3 months so far and go to know it quite well, it started getting just a bit too familiar.

I never could give up my nightly visits to the maemo site and occassionaly i would mess around on my n900 for a bit, but then i realised that someone had made it easy to over clock the n900 and boom! i was back on my baby overclocking and theme customizing and then, like out of the blue!, they release the new CSSU and i went mad!lol i turned my baby into a beast with the help of some amazing people here in the community. after having set everything the way i want it, i decided to install omweather and after putting the widget on my desktop i realised that it forcedrotated my desktop! so i have one desktop which works in both landscape and portrait! customised conversations and overclocked to 1ghz!

So.... do i use maemo? i will never get rid of my baby even if it becomes obsolete. i hope one day nokia and all the other os and phone making companies learn something from this community and pull their fingers out!

MAEMO CSSU ROCKS!

There is no 'one OS to rule them all', and the Maemo crowd (esp t.m.o. ) is not really whom WP7 is aimed at, i.e. there will be Maemites who will always prefer some linux variant (whether that be a future MeeGo, webOS or (gasp) Android device), and then there are those who would actually rather go to WP7 from Symbian or whatever they are using now.

Whatever will go onto the N900 will be preferred by every 900 owner lol.

Problem is we are very limited right now as Meego is a no go for the time being so IF they bring out WP7 adapted for the 900 i am certain 100% EVERYONE will try it no matter what so the Windows haters can shut up cos it also includes you HA.

NB Maemo is a dead horse unless they make it open source, silly question really as to how many Maemo users there are.

Sorry,no can do.By the way,I don't have any sites that I can put the poll on. Perhaps one of you can do(If there aren't any out there).Or, if we put the poll on a general smartphone site or store, perhaps we can get more realastic results(just like the last time)

That's why I have left the choice. You are free to choose WP7(or android webOS or etc.) and I won't shout at anyone chose a different OS.And the point is,if we have enough linux smartphone users, then I don't have to worry about its extinction.

My question is:How many maemo users we (still) have. Do you think it's going to be abandoned or you think it has a bright future? It would be cool to have N950. But, do you think the rumors about the N950 are real and we should wait for it, or you think no such miracle will happen? Or maybe we should wait for another surprise from nokia?
i love my nokia n900 ......untill it will broken into 2 pieces........love maemo.

There is no if. The N900 does not fit WP7 hardware requirements (which happen to be very strict compared to other platforms).

Has there ever been such love for a mobile phone? I bet those iPhone users would say "yeah! We love our iPhones!" then throw their 4 away the second the 5 comes out.

You know that most middle eastren countries are are nokia-centric, and i find myself surprised daily by how many n900 are run into. In yemen, of all places alone, in the last 3 days i have ran into 6 different n900 users. Which is a signficant increase from my home country lebanon, where BB has ravaged the people.

thought i would share this little tid bit.
