Just wondering if anyone thought this was possible/doable?

I love my n900. It's the dopest dope I've ever used. Though when I set it next to my n810 it's just tiny. It fits almost perfectly atop the screen of my n810. Not to mention typing and the added buttons for file/setting dialogs.

So the questions goes out to all of my electronically inclined friends-

Can we take the guts of the n900 and put it in the n810's body and make a the n9000!!!?

First of all, Welcome to the talk.maemo.org.

I think your answer is a solid no.N900 after all,is an embedded device. And this means, you can't upgrade it's parts and/or take it apart unlike a home computer or a barebone laptop.

More interestingily, does the LCD controller allow connecting up the N810 screen?

Perhaps even if they don't use the same cabling for the screens, using an adapter in the ribbon cables and a custom driver the bigger screen can be interfaced?

OK, I'd try it but I can't solder that well.

N900 LCD connector:

N810 LCD connector:

That's going to need some tiny hands (and a pinout for both)

I'm 90% sure it will work, since both screen are same type and resolution.

It's also possible that there is a different power requirement between the screens.
