Ok I finally installed again after sending the gz file to a macbook, extracting, then transfered back to gngeo folder under MyDocs on N900, still the same screen, can't map the keys, where should be the folder conf\gngeorc? Can I change the key values and other parameters on Notes app of N900?

Within the tar archive, there is a folder called .gngeo (dor at the beginning), inside that folder there is a file called gngeorc. That folder should go to /home/user , not MyDocs, because gngeo emu expects to read it from there.

The directory extructure should be:

/home/user/.gngeo/gngeorc

that is why in my original intructions I made the package to extract at /home/user, not hold the emu at /home/user/MyDocs, just at /home/user/gngeo

Thank you again buddy, when I typed on xterm I got lots of texts, I think it went ok, I don't see .gngeo folder because the '.' makes it hidden, right? So, how to edit gngeorc file if I can't see, will try using a windows xp pc and set to show hidden folders and files, btw inside the folder there are bin and share folders, right? I didn't see gngeorc, I copied conf\gngeorc to gngeo folder I created, I think I am doing wrong, but your reply claryfied a bit more
for me, will try on the pc after this. Can I install Filebox or Midnight Comander and try to do it on N900? Using Notes or do I need to install Leafpad? I think I'm getting close. Another thing: I can't start from xterm, using gngeo\bin\ gngeo kof98 for example, but hopefully I have XGngeo installed. And what is the difference between MyDocs and Home\User? I tought it was the same thing. Is it the root folder (home\user) when I plug the N900 on PC? Thank you for your help pcekper.

Now I finally saw the gngeorc file inside the tar binary, when I extracted on a Mac the .gngeo file with gngeorc inside wasn't appearing, but yesterday I did the same on a Windows XP and the gngeorc file was there, I copied it to my N900, the problem is that I don't know how to move it to Home\User and there're p1key and #p1key sections, wich one do I have to modify? X-Term instructions or using Filebox, Midnight Comander?, the easiest way, please.

Ok, I finally was able to remap keys (by installing Filebox and accessing the gngeo folder), but the screen size stays the same no matter how I change; scale 2 (don't use anything on ur gpx2) and scale 2x (on effects part), also on screen 320 true/false. I uninstalled xgngeo and am trying to uninstall gngeo on app manager to start again, but it says unable to uninstall 'gngeo' , then App Man close with a error 'Internal Error App Manager closed'. I tried on X-term 'root' , then 'apt-get remove gngeo' then 'y' hitted enter... It starts, then says 'dpkg: error processing gngeo (--remove) failed to delete media/mmc1/roms.dpkg-tmp read only file system Errors were encountered while processing: gngeo E: Subprocess usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) . Can anyone help?

Not sure about your problem, didn't experience it, seems related to the SD card on the phone, I do not have one.

trying to run metal slug i get "Unknow or unsupported romset".
started it with the following:
/home/user/gngeo/bin/gngeo --biospath=/home/user/MyDocs/Roms/Neogeo/bios --fullscreen --rompath=/home/user/MyDocs/Roms/Neogeo --romrc=/home/user/gngeo/share/gngeo/romrc --romrcdir=/home/user/gngeo/share/gngeo/romrc.d --sound mslug

tried also with mslug2 and got the same.
the roms there are in zip - is this ok?

I'm not sure what I have wrong with my mem card, maybe I need to backup, format, recover of it, in Win XP system detects virus (.exe) under cities, images etc folders. But anyway after trying many things, I deleted roms folder, unmount card, then deleted gngeo app.

I was getting screen small because of 'gngeo' version OS08, with your instructions I finally realized I don't need to install gngeo.deb.
It is just the comand on x-term after having the files on My/Docs, then edit the gngeorc using Filebox( for key remapping using ascii table values), also installing XGngeo to be easier to configure, start games.

It is a very good emulator, I only have some bugs on ps3 controller connected, will make sure on key remapping again. I have Coin ket set to r, but also when I press UP on conroller, also when RIGHT, it's START on game, wich makes me annoying on KOF games.

Thanks for all your instructions, I finally could get it working since last week on my holidays, but I gotta charge my ps3 cont tonight.

Maybe your bios and roms aren't on 'Mydocs/roms folder' .

Install XGngeo, would be a lot easier than x-term.

Also try 'gngeo/bin/gngeo mslug' ... After having bios and roms on MyDocs/roms folder.

I finally managed to play "Metal Slug 1", though with a small screen yet. But I realized that is the only game that runs with me, I tried "Metal Slug 2, 3, & 4" it says
- ms2_c1.rom [************************************************** **
or
- This ROM is unloaded because Gengo could not find a suitable drive to handle it

Same goes to King og Fighters 2001

but KOF 2002 starts loading, then the green screen, then black out and nothing happens till I stop the emulator.

Do I need more BIOS or different ones to support these games??
