After purging Hivemind (apt-get purge hivemind) and rebooting, reinstallation worked.

For what purposes and tasks you use mindmapping anyway?
LMGTFY, I know, but would be interested on opinions and practices with HiveMind on N900. I like the idea, but as I said, have never used it or other Mindmapping tools.

I use it to make notes on books I am reading.

I typically install four main nodes for a novel I am reading:

Character Place Event Word.

Then under each I list all significant ones or associated ideas I think of.

I have used this basic process with many mindmapping programs.

As an example: in FBReader I see a new character. I highlight it and copy with Ctrl-C. With Ctrl-Bkspace I change to the Hivemind window. I create a new node under Character and paste the name with Ctrl-V. This gives me a running list of all characters.

Unfortunately, the segmentation failt error when running HiveMind has returned for me. Even if I purge HiveMind, when I reinstall it I get segmentation fault. This has been going on for weeks.

Edit: Sigh. I just removed 68 apps and HiveMind works. Now all I have to figure out is why.

Edit Again: I reunstalled many of the 68 apps and HiveMind still works. This was not really a surprise. My current theory is that HiveMind needs a lot of some resource (such as rootfs) to initialize the first time and that's what removing the 68 apps allowed. Now that it is installed I think I can forget about the problem unless I want to reinstall from scratch again.

Responding again to Zimon's question about Mindmapping and what it's for.

It all started with note taking and theories about the best methods to do it.

Schools taught Outlining, with roman numerals to emphasize a rigid thought structure.

Computer programmers developed GrandView, a sort of super-outliner.

A business guy named Tony Buzan created Mind Mapping -- It was like outlining but super free-form. It was origionally done on paper with lots of drawing and colored pencils. The idea was to summarize ideas emphasizing the big picture but with enough scope to be as complex as necessary.

Now there are many mindmapping programs.

Thank you for your interest in HiveMind.

I've created an issue on the project tracker for the bug.

Python object files (pyo) are not deleted on removal of HiveMind. Old pyo files provoke segmentation fault with newer python source files.

Temporary workaround for the bug:
* remove HiveMind through application manager or running apt-get remove hivemind
* delete directory /opt/maemo/usr/share/hivemind/
* install new version of HiveMind

Since my slight problem mentioned above, HiveMind has been totally reliable for me and it's a must-have program on the N900. It's far more useful than any similar program on any Nokia tablet I've seen.
