It would be better do rm -rf /and
if somehow you type the directory wrong you wont delete the current dir...
If you were in / , and /and did not exist, you deleted the whole image and need to reflash ...

Where you root at the time?
Did you definatly cd to the /and directory?
How long was it deleting files for before it turned off?

A reflash may be coming your way me thinks..

If your USB is broken, your only hopes might be:

- If you have installed backupmenu prior to breaking your N900, restore your latest backup.

- If you have installed uBoot prior to breaking your N900, booting to MeeGo and trying to repair your Maemo partitions from there.

- Using the USB connectors under the battery... which will involve building a custom cable and rigging it up somehow. There are schematics of the pins layout available in the forums here or in the n900 repair manual.

- Sending to Nokia and hoping they can fix the USB port and reflash it for you.

Yes a little bit. Unless you have something like backupmenu installed. Is your usb totally knackered?

@stlpaul

i'm trying to restore my backup but it just restarts.all i see when i boot up the phone are squares, replacing the supposed to be characters/letters on the menu.

i definitely sent it to Nokia Care Center here in the philippines but they haven't done anything to fix it.hopefully if i send it again they will be able to fix it!

thanks for the suggestions!
