Hi All,

Just ordered my N810 through Letstalk. Just curious, what video software conversion will be best for this device, converting dvd and mpeg-1. I wasn't sure if Nokia ship these unit with their own conversion software or not.

I know the N810 wasn't meant to be a media player, but I have a dozen of karaoke vdo that I can't live without..

thanks.
B

Nothing is included and the choice of software really depends on your 'real' computer (doing the transcoding on the device would be madness): I use linux and swear by tablet-encode script by Adrew Flegg.

Another popular choice seems to be Media Converter (Java, multi-platform,has a GUI). EDIT: Forgot to mention that I don't actually know much about this or other software -- tablet-encode is what I need so I haven't needed to test the others...

You ordered it from Letstalk? Didn't you have to give your SS# for that? I don't understand why people would do that.

Uh, what? If the Internet Tablets weren't supposed to be media players, what are all those pictures of people listening to music and watching video doing on Nokia's website? One could argue that they aren't the best media players (especially with the built-in software), but with the help of the community they're steadily improving.

OTOH, karaoke? Really?
