cool, cheers.
missed that somehow.

Really laughed (not not lol or ROMAFL etc) at the "So after $20,000 we were back where we started and starting to think maybe the days of the ZX Spectrum and making things here in the UK were dead. Every firm we contacted in the UK either wanted tens of thousands of pounds to even consider the possibility of speaking to us, or thought we were mad."
part...

It looks from that interview they really did not expected the "success" of the pandora. "The first production run is 3,000 units which we hope will sell out before they ship."

heh, when you have a news entry on both slashdot and engadget in one day, you know your in for a storm.

last time something similar happened, it was a physicist blogging about a new take on the theory of everything...

end result, server meltdown...

So it's November; getting excited? Or is the ship date slipping?

No, but I did get excited when Craig announced that Pandora will come with 256 MB RAM and 512 MB NAND at no extra cost.

I figure it's about the same kind of excitement people on this board would get were Nokia to announce that they were going to produce a new model tablet after all...

Nokia holds up to their promises; they don't make 'em.

Newbie mistake. Openmoko made the same...

Theres a saying which even counts in Belgium, methinks. Its called "afspraak is afspraak" which boils down to "a deal is a deal", "an appointment is an appointment", or "a promise is a promise".

I don't like it when a corporation first promises A and then doesn't fullfill that promise. Especially not when I calculated on it. It has potention to lower trust.

Indeed, Nokia made no promises. They gave a rough schedule when the alpha en beta of the new SDK are released. I know now that I cannot depend on these dates thanks to their honesty.

allnames,
I have to agree with this.
I'm excited about the next platform, having a decent camera will be the icing on the cake for me, I've got so many ideas bubbling around ready to make use of it.
