I hope so. I have every-hour feed update. I often use browser or maps. Background connections enabled.
Last test scenario: while in public transport i was actively surfing internet for the whole hour and "3.5" symbol in the status bar was constant blue. Nevertheless MeeCast icon at the feeds screen showed "NO DATA", until i manually updated the weather. Update interval is 15 minutes. Version is 0.7.6.
If MeeCast can't initiate connection, what is logic for an auto update? For example, i have 15 minutes interval. Say, MeeCast will try to update at 12:00, 12:15, 12:30 and so on. If connection would be down at 12:15 though it would be up at 12:14 and 12:16, does weather update fail? Lets say i am so unlucky that all 24 hours/7 days MeeCast can't exactly spot connection times, weather will stay outdated, isn't it?
So, please tell me about manual invoking to be sure that update will be started while connection is up and in use.

I used minimos' #987 code :
dpkg --ignore-depends=meecast-applet-enable -r meecast
Perfect result :
Meecast 0.7.6 = uninstalled
Activating Applet = still here.
Version 0.7.9 was installed from openrepos,
Meecast is now working perfectly, updatng forecasts as it should.
Thanks to minimos & vasvlad.
