im not sure, but i think it should be a .ISO compatible format... perhaps its enough to just rename the image to FF7CD1OF4.ISO
try another PSX game in ISO format

Other than overclocking my nokia n900, how can I get games like crash bandicoot and Tekken running at a good fps

To get tekken 3 running @ full speed you need to take your N900 everyday to the gym. Right now it's too weak.
What the emu needs is Hardware acceleration. (Open GL ES support)
The N900 as hardware is powerful enough. Just give it time.
