Tabster,

I could easily make another package for "Small Statusbar Clock" but I have two concerns. First is what set of options to offer for configuration. How would AM/PM mode work with the extremely small amount of space? Should there still be a stacked mode except that it shows hours over minutes? I wonder how easy it would be to recognize the time looking at it like that.

Second would be maintaining the code for two applications. Unless it is a change solely for communication between the two plugins any change would have to be made in both code bases. This hopefully wouldn't be much of an increase in work given the simplicity of the code.

Give me a couple of days to see what I can work out.

Is anyone else having an issue with only the minutes showing? I'm on an n810 & I've updated to the latest version, taken other applets out, rebooted, tried stacked mode and still only have the minutes showing. Great app - if I can get it working.

that would be great !

I would say just the following options (keep it simple)

- 24h mode - yes or no
no am/pm indicator in 12 hour mode - no space (also, I know if it is 7am or 7pm )
stacked would be way too small
- Allow color and font

There's already a single-space applet around. Having it double-wide so it's readable is kinda the whole point here.

General: I was thinking that too, except I am pretty sure the single-wide applet doesn't show the current date or launch the world clock (although if anyone could figure out how to launch the clock from the command line I am sure it could be made to).

Also, if I ever get an alarm system to work with this clock that would be available in a single-wide version as well. I know duplication of effort is not a good thing, but I think this program is enough different from the existing one (and I think we are talking about osso-statusbar-cpu here).

Any other thoughts?

EDIT: I do appreciate that the whole reason I started this project was to provide the double wide readable clock, but thanks to all the input here it has grown (look at the original "feature" list in the first post) into a much more customizable and useful program. If there is enough interest for a single wide version I will make it, but I hope that people will still use the double - it is a much more interesting program to me!

I am already aware of that...

yes, I think the leading zero should show in the 24hr mode

Did you ever use StatusBarClock (PanelClock) on os2007 ?
Find it here https://garage.maemo.org/projects/statusbar-clock
This showed the time in one status bar position (in a small font obviously). It also showed the date when you clicked on it if I recall.
I like your large font though.
And as I have said, I like the larger double spaced clock. But find now that it takes up too much space for my current needs.

But the old statusbar clock does not work in OS2008, has not been updated in a long time, does not easily allow font and color changes and also options are nice

Maybe someone could take this code and make a "Small Statusbar Clock"?

thanks in advance

There's at least one other applet that does this already, the osso-statusbar-cpu. It shows CPU and/or memory usage, and superimposes a clock on it. Also provides the ability to run commands from a drop-down menu, so it's great for script-hacky happers.

EDIT: Sorry, not sure how that happened, but I missed most of a page of new posts... Afraid the above response is not useful at this time.

But...
What you should do is make a generic applet that can display a subimage out of any html, png, ... file. Then you can add as many as you need, and assign them to render different offsets into whatever you want displayed...!!
