Desktop Firefox UserAgent

at Terminal
Code:
$ sudo gainroot
$ cd .mozilla/fennec/*.default
$ leafpad prefs.js
add

Code:
user_pref("general.useragent.override","Mozilla/5.0(X11;Linuxi686;rv:2.0.1)Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1 Fennec/2.0.1");
Save File -> Exit

--------------------------

fennec 4 beta3 is a huge leap forwards. i am using firefox after a few months. Personas and ability to theme your browser is simply awesome. Zooming and Scrolling are much smoother now

I think all Fennec versions use this same way:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Firefox_mobile

about:config
plugin.default_plugin_disabled -> false
plugin.disable -> false

thanks for a quick reply. So in Fennec 4 beta 3, flash plugin is enabled by default and it crashes every time. I have disabled it for now.

No, flash is DISABLED by default. If you change the plugin settings to 'false' as described, you ENABLE flash.

I just downloaded and installed version 4.0b4pre

and it is very very nice
no crashes (yet?) and everything seems ok so far,
but this is a nightly build so maybe I am just lucky this time, who knows?

Anyway:

Ctrl+P usually doesn't open this dialogue, so try clicking "Print" link on a web-page, for instance.
Ok I see this would be a kludge to expect printing from the app,
especially for Fennec which has this beautiful save as pdf
feature builtin.

So ok, just save as pdf and use the normal gtklp routine for printing

(It does have the usual print dialogue available for web-sites
that provide the print button, but I still have not hacked that
dialogue into working yet)
The tabbing is nice once you get accustomed to how it works,
and the overall feel is silky.

Thanks for complimenting Fennec!
I use nightly, and update it frequently. And it practically never crashes.
I prefer Qt version, but it has unusable file open/save dialogue, so lately I use GTK.

Saving as PDF practically never worked right for me.
