It is becoming clear that they are now replacing our N900s that encounter this problem, therefore there is no reason for that process to take any more than 5-10 days at the very maximum.

If they do not have a re-furb/replacement phone in stock then they should get a new one shipped to you immediately.

However given that they have already had your money and the demand for the N900 is still outstripping supply they would rather sell any phones they have than use them to replace broken ones. Simple sales led business policy on display. The only way to get some attention is to make some noise IMHO, the longer you wait the more they will let you wait until you crack, which it sounds like you have. Then any remedial work they do may be too late.

For what it's worth I got to your state after 1 week (yes i am impatient) and was boiling by week 2. However having an imaculate replacement N900 back in my possesion melted away all that hurt in seconds. I may well now burn my N95 8gb as I hated going back to it that much :O

Hope it gets sorted for you to your satisfaction
John
I thank you for your encouragement and your kind words For the time being I stay put, but will soon go down the same path you did. This is an unacceptable situation, and you're right. If I don't start acting soon they might stretch this a lot further than it already is.

@Haus3r

you bought that device, they must bring it back in one piece.
i wonder how apologetic will they be, like on bockersjv's post, if you received your n900 back.

just bug them, until their heads pop

I've got one broken pixel in the middle of the screen.
But when I read thru this tread I think I should try to live with it and hope my USB Port will live for more than the 2 years!

It would be so much easier to send the broken Device back to Nokia, get your Money back and then buy a new N900 for 600 Bucks at the same Day.

have you done the filing of male usb port? (i think you did, if what i read was right).

i did file mine, but before i did that, and learned about this thread, it was 3 weeks that im suffering from exerting too much force when plugging/un-plugging (charging and transferring data) the charger and cable.

i did not know that this issue will most likely to occur and rushed to see a preventive action. until now, so far (hoping) that the usb port holds and be fixed, even if i already had very minimal wear and tear for 3 weeks after receiving the device

No I haven't... I've got many micro usb cable. And when I file all, and they fell to easy out of other devices this would also be very bad. So I'm not sure what I should do.

yeah, i agree, before i file, i use a blackberry usb but its ok coz the prongs are not that big, i file down my n97's and it was so loose on the device itself.

maybe just file the n900's default cable and charger.

EDIT: dont loose the charger and cable in this case
so far this filing technique is working for me, i dont have to exert too much force
