If you want to have a site that welcomes users, I suggest that you don't title threads with abbreviations like m.n.c & FN.

Checking my original post to see where are we after 115 replies:

- maemo.org annoucements. Nokia won't post more announcements so it is logical to think that the void will be naturally covered by community announcements.

- Talk summary in the maemo.org homepage, no discussion?

- Brainstrom in the maemo.org homepage there is a thread discussing the Brainstrom and its role in maemo.org. No discussion until now about its presence in the homepage.

- Planet, if all these new Maemo related blogs do a good job covering user relevant topics and they are aggregated and ranked by readers caring about user topics... then t
he change will be visible soon. Are they aggregate, though?

- Intro, no discussion? It's not urgent but still. I will take this one and will propose something in a separate thread.

Let's face it; the N900 is cool, and it is the most mass market Maemo device ever, but it really isn't the phone for your "What's an app" Dad. That's why they didn't make a big fuss about it at Nokia World, even though it got all the buzz on the show floor. It is aimed for a tech-savvy crowd, the ones that pay attention to tech bloggers more than marketing keynotes.

I personally think it's great that opportunistic bloggers are trying to cash in on Maemo and the N900. That means the N900 is getting some serious mindshare out there in the target demographic.

Hmmm... by this do you mean Nokia-filtered-through-the-community announcements, announcements about advents originated by the community, or what? I ask because up to now community "announcements" have been reiterations of press releases or rumors followed by wild speculation.

- Talk summary in the maemo.org homepage, no discussion?
Ok Quim I'll bite-- what does that mean?

- Brainstrom in the maemo.org homepage there is a thread discussing the Brainstrom and its role in maemo.org. No discussion until now about its presence in the homepage.
???

Good question. I'd like us to explore the possibility of Planet filter/sorting/etc by additional maemo-specific tags for blogs. We could agree collectively upon a set of topic and other tags that could create true organized aggregation-- assuming Planet would support such a thing?

This is the most important of the subjects IMO. I eagerly await your thread... and be careful what you wish for! You know what a pain I can be once I get rolling.

I can build any type of Talk feed. This (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=31334) is a good one to use but I can create other types of feed if needed. Who can add this feature to the homepage?

Is it at the main page? The only place I see it right now is on the community page. Also, the feed of the brainstorm is not working. The browser indicates that there is a feed, but it looks like it is still not coded yet. I would like to use this feed at Maemo Talk as well.

I can request Maemo Talk to be added to Planet. My only fear is getting 'thumbs downs' for blog posts that might be too basic for some. Thoughtfix has negative karma now because of the thumbs down feature. I believe in positive reinforcement so I don't really like the thumbs down feature there.

Maybe it should be be changed to -- promote / bury. If an item say gets promoted 20 times, that item gets to be automatically displayed in the News section. You should not get negative karma if for 'buried' votes though.

I agree. And I don't understand the recent backlash against Thoughtfix's articles. Did I miss something?

Hello reggie is it possible to include the #n900 tag tweets on to talk.maemo.org just like you did it on maemotalk.com?

Reggie, please aggregate Maemo Talk. Same for everybody sweating to have a good Maemo related blog in place that goes beyond replicating what others already published in an already aggregated source.

Negative karma for thumbs down was removed a year ago or even before. Thoughtfix has 512 karma today: http://maemo.org/profile/view/thoughtfix/

I'm following the thumbs regularly and I believe readers give thumbs up to original sources and original posts, which actually makes sense. Thumbs down are mostly limited to off-topic or 2 lines posts, which kind of makes sense as well if you want those to stay far from the maemo.org homepage.

If you find a recent case of "injustice" please share the URL.

Brainstorm: no, it's not in the homepage and this is what I'm proposing.

Intro: my proposal will more about removing duplicate information available in the original sources (maemo.nokia.com and Forum Nokia) than about discussing what to put there.
