Why do you leap to such an extreme assumption?

Polls have a limited lifespan.

No, it's closed because the polls on here are only for a fixed period of time. After that they automatically close.

Maybe new one would tell the current situation about the problem.
Will all N900s have this problem until 2 year warranty is over?
i believe it has a span of 1-2months. i saw the date when i voted.

"this poll will close at March 1" or something like that, below the vote results.

ok. I wonder if the ratio (12% failed) would be now worse or better.

oh.....that we are not sure of. All we know is for over 500 n900 devices, 20% or 100 n900's (12% or 60 n900's failed w/o treatments) got their usb port broken, take note the the poll instructed the users that they must vote within one month of using the device, unless they already experienced the issue.

i voted at the 21st of Feb, a month of using the n900, and so far no issues and hoping not to have.

Got my device back from Nokia after sending it UPS.

Took about 2weeks to get it all sorted. Nokia never gave me any grief or problems, seemed it was a straight forward warranty issue that was covered.

If anyone is having issues getting Nokia to take responsibility attach a copy of the following url when you send the device: http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...rt/td-p/602078

Yay,
Got a new looking phone back at last, seems to be put together a but tighter than my old one. Only just got around to filling off the USB connectors, I had though it would be little prongs not massive metal hooks like that.
Anyhow I am relatively happy.
I would say though that don't bother ringing the nokia support number it is a complete waste of your time.
I can confirm they haven't a clue the status of any repair as I was told when I rang yesterday (tuesday) it was "still in repair" when in fact the replacement phone had been shipped out on the previous wednesday. UPS just failed to deliver it due to the poor addressing of the item.
So to re-iterate:
UK Nokia Care phone line does not know the status of your freepost repair so don't bother asking.
Any how I got it now.
Needed an update to the latest firmware, the backup seemed to work quite well, restoring actually makes the setup pretty similar to my previous, which is a plus.

Yes I can confirm that the repair starus web page is useless. Mine was still being assesed the day after I had it back ! Shame they do not flash with the latest firmware either, but It was pritsine and I had it back.

I too am surpised, and somewhat relieved, to see how well the restore process works and quick too.
