I have just gone back to the 600mhz stock one too bit paranoid about it too.

It is not that I want to spoil anybodies fun, but the audience in these forums is not composed of only people with 10+ years of Linux experience, and fond memories of i486 overclocking.

So when anyone posts guidance like in this thread, please consider twice what you are doing.

Now two days with @900Mhz and no problems what so ever. Even tried with @1000Mhz and that was also working but I didn't notice any performance difference compared to @900Mhz so I reverted back to that.

I got my N900 OC'ed to 900Mhz, stock DSP. Enabled SmartReflex through /etc/pmconfig then rebooted, twice. No problems so far (48 hours). Didn't decrease max frequency to 825Mhz, either, which is good.

Edit: That's weird. I just rebooted again, and now I get stuck at the Nokia logo. I guess SmartReflex doesn't really like 900Mhz. Heh.

Also, take note: I'm actually waiting for this device to fry (although I hope it won't), since I'm in a tropical country where it can easily hit >35C midday, at least recently. I basically ignored Lehto's warning about not going beyond 800Mhz on warmer climate. :P

Not necessarily. It primarily depends on your usage pattern, going ping-pong between 125 and 500 in certain cases can be worse than a steady 250 (the same goes for performance lag).

Yesterday it last 14 hours under heavy usage and that's no different than it was before.

Your firmware version is not "generic"

In my case, I has to use "mp-fremantle-003-pr"

You will find out by typing the following.....

dpkg -l | grep mp-fremantle

Using 900mhz-stock DSP and recording a few video clips... So far no difference,
frames still dropping and occasional stutter.

Not sure why I thought it would improve that particular area in performance terms.
