Too much service is outsourced these days, meaning originators of a problem never feel the pain. A rant for another day...

the drop test for the n900 video on youtube still puzzles me, when they got the device, there are problems.

dead pixel and a light on the keyboard at letters x and c.

they disassemled the unit and reassemble. on their drop test vido, its noticable the the usb port is still attached. they claimed the the n900 is still working but no words about the usb port.

maybe this issue was not out yet when the video was caught.

Funny how I am now on my 3rd N900 and I have never experienced any of these issues.

what? third? men! what are the manufacturing dates? maybe one of 'em is in 2010.

I'd bet it broke down the second after you wrote this.

Buy a MicroSD card and use the back up tool that is already on the phone and ensure it backs up to the card, nit the phone.

I do a back up once a week, always good practice.

If your battery is flat buy an external charger or find a friend with a phone that takes the same battery.

My USB port just came a bit loose and now it's charging intermittently didn't think it would happen to me... had it almost 6 months now.

Shame I can't change my vote

The one that I have now has a production date 4th week of 2010. The other ones are from the very first batch and do not have the usb issue.
