Ok, I am just trying this again. In the Video tab it doesn't specify an avg. bitrate or target size. Here's what I see in that tab in the attached screenshot.

Then something is obviously not working in my file. Damnit.

Oh well... try the one from the Wiki and see if you have more luck than Kathy. If so, I'll just toss my two files. If not, we'll have to keep troubleshooting one until we get a working one, then have the wiki updated with it.

I can report the files being output from any of these options are massive. Right now I'm transfering 15 mins of vid at 1.6 gb. The file from the wiki is even huger (and didn't play)... I tinkered a bit after failing with that. I will view this one and then give up - It's past my teddy-bed-time. Us old ladies need our beauty sleep.

The wiki file import:

It's just done 1% and the file size is already over 300mb. Handbrake is reporting that it is going to take another 7 hours and 40 mins to complete so I am not going to keep that running.

There is something seriously screwed with Windows Handbrake importing then. Fail.

And of course, windows doesn't allow one to export... However.. Idea.

I will re-create the settings in my wine. There is a file:

%APPDATA%\HandBrake\user_presets.xml

That stores all your profiles. We need a working windows Handbrake copy of this file.. then we can instruct users how to replace theirs with this one.

Cardiff-blues - can you look for this file on yours?

Close Handbrake and try this one (copy yours out of the way, don't delete it). Just put it in the same location the other one is.

No problem. I just can't test it =-(. Wine doesnt want to load a source file in Handbrake... and even I did get it to encode... I have no device with which to test.

I'm just trying to consolidate settings I'm seeing from people around the forum. If anyone has a working windows Handbrake... this file would be helpful.

Ok, I think I can report back on this one early. If I stop the encoding before it is complete I can get a good idea of whether or not it is going to work. This test had completed roughly 1.26% and was 383mb file size. I tried viewing with Windows Media Player but it was not right. The picture was like a screenful of squares that looked like animmated pixelated parts. See attached.

The sound seems to lag by about 20 seconds as well. At least the file was recognised in WM and was able to play it though. With some of my other tests the file comes up unrecognised.

I did get the Warner Bros logo to appear quite visibly for a few seconds before it started to add the squares.
