Personally, my priorities for a post-Nokia Maemo environment are (in descending order) device software distribution (and flashers, etc)
nokia repositories (device software and development)
documentation
community respositories
mailing lists
The reasons for that are (i) we have to keep the devices usable as a top priority, (ii) tools for developers are important to allow future maintenance and enhancement, (iii) a community needs a communication infrastructure. Autobuilders would be nice but are certainly not critical and are likely to be very tough to maintain, and possibly expensive. Other things like promotion, community testing, application search tools, etc are lower priority still.
I wonder if we should abandon "maemo.org" as a hostname? In particular, the next release of the CSSU could force all references to "maemo.org" to be looked up as (say) "maemocommunity.org".
This would allow us to walk away from supporting all the Nokia customers who were not willing to upgrade to the CSSU -- they would be Nokia's problem, to do with as they wished (support, drop support, whatever).
This would mean a much lower load on new servers.

That would require a Nokia SSU. Good luck convincing Nokia to a) publish one b) include your code in it and c) direct users to a non-"certified" repository for system updates.

Just read this whole thread and it's obvious qgil and Kate are stuck in the middle between a company that is seemingly riding rough-shod over all and sundry and plenty of community members that are requiring immediate answers to their questions.
I think they are both doing what they can, given their present positions at Nokia, and maybe we should all give them a chance to release what info they may have when they have it and know it to be concrete.
There are plenty of 'me,me,me' posts here which could be best answered with 'how longs a piece of string?' yet members are still persisting.
At the end of the day we will still only know the situation when we know it - just as with PR1.3
Patience is a virtue.
Thanks and good luck to qgil and Kate, wherever your paths may lead.

We are not going to get licence to host/redistribute binary blobs. Not sure if that includes flasher, but at least we have 0xffff as an alternative.
I strongly recommend everyone to keep a local backup of any firmware images they care about at least.

I bought an Android tablet about two weeks before the company shut down its only site. (Entourage)
All I want is 40 acres, a mule, and Xterm.
