This design flaw makes me worry every time I disconnect microUSB cable or charger.
Not nice!

I agree, but filing off the prongs on the USB cables has made me much more happy when plugging/unplugging.

Well, mine's back from Nokia - or rather a replacement is with me after about a fortnight, along with a coupon for 5 free downloads from the Nokia Music store. It appears to be new and didn't have any problem pluggin into the usb cable from my PC; the calendar didn't restore from backup, but that's another issue... I will now wait and see if the charging problem or the earpiece volume problem reoccurs.

Is that 5 DRM-locked downloads that you can't play on the N900?

Possibly? I haven't used it yet so couldn't say...

I got mine this week (used ) and I took a metal file and have removed the teeth from all the USB plugs. They were very bad.
I'm just worried as I'm not sure how much "damage" the previous owner has done.
I've just installed easy debian last night - great fun!

Hi, has it yet been established whether the design of the motherboard has changed to prevent the USB socket snapping off from normal use?

Or are Nokia continuing to bang out thousands of new N900s with an obvious design flaw that will cause some customers no end of grief through no fault of their own?

If the latter, I'm kinda lost for words... hopefully Nokia did the right thing and fixed this long ago.

no comments menz.
But I sent my device from Perú AGAIN in order to let them fix the new device they sent me weeks ago cuz of micro USB detached problem, and this new device I got was not able to charge in anyway LoLz ^^ WTFurk!

I did pre-ordered my device in oct-nov and until now I can feel the $$ expent on it... really frustrating! 6 months later :s and I'am getting only more $$ comming out from my pocket.

They should send me my n900 and a mini n97 OMG!!! no jokes!
