You can stop guessing, it's just a race condition. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, no magic involved.

Has anyone managed to run Goldeneye at full speed (at least %80-90 speed)? I think with 1.15 GHz and proper configuration settings this would be possible.

Edit: BTW I've found this video, might give you an idea about what I'm talking about:

If Pandora can do this, so can N900!

Is there any progression for mupen64plus? I'm looking at this forum from time to time, but after more than half a year: still the same problems (sigsev here, sigsev there), no development and still no sound.

I want to know, because I've lost confidence ingetting somewhere with mupen64plus.

Sorry to tell you that, but i think you will still come here from time to time, for there is no concrete progression about this emulator. If you want to play N64 games on your N900, it's better to use NitDroid and N64oid. Even if it's is not fully perfect, at least it's 50% better than Mupen64plus.

I've been using N64oid on my Vega for about a month. Although it is faster than Mupen64plus on N900 (understandable due to the CPU/GPU difference), its sheer inability to maintain playing a game for more than 30 minutes without crashing is infuriating.

I respect the developers here a lot more than I respect the developer who (to my knowledge) has failed to comply with the license. Also, my girlfriend much prefers playing Mario 64 on my N900 than my Vega due to the hardware keyboard.

Booting into another operating system to play a few games is unacceptable for me.

I don't understand... I can play Mario64, Banjo-Kazooie, Mario Party, Mario Golf(Although I have to be VERY patient with this), Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros(with a little patience), and all of them with (a choppy, but perfectly - for me - audible and uderstandable) sound...

My only wish was that each game could have a different set of controls, so that I could use Game Gripper more efficiently, but either way, I get to play satisfactory enough (for me at least).

What are your problems exactly? You wish the games were able to run full speed? I think this will never be reached... not without serious investment that will NEVER come to a (wonderful, perfect for ME, but) dying phone...

I have no problem with it. Sound is not essential to me while playing for a short while so the games I play tend to run at a more than acceptable framerate.

People will always demand more, regardless of the current status of the device/operating system.

The problem for me is the mysterious SIGSEGV and crashing issue that come each time now and does not came before.

Ok, I pushed an update. Find it with the application manager (Mupen64Plus) or by updating mupen64plus-arm-gui from the command line. New version is "20110128-0maemo2", which should install gles2n64 revision 23.

Most of the changes are within the new Adventus' gles2n64 (graphics plugin) release. I've also removed the barebones config dialog for it as there's now per-game configuration files so I believe it is no longer as needed.

The config file for the graphics plugin (gles2n64.conf) has changed a lot, so if you made any changes to it you will need to redo them again.

I've also decided to change the default frameskip to 2. This should make at least a few games fully playable without even touching the config file. Remember though that if you didn't previously you need to at least once open the mupen64plus settings dialog, plugins tab and select "gles2n64" for graphics and "pa64" for audio.

Here's to hoping it runs at least a bit better for you

On related news, bzfrank (the man behind the new gles2n64 updates) and some others are sharing suggested configurations for certain games in the Pandora boards.
