I just spoke with 8 of my developer friends who work on Harmattan, 2 cleaners(chinese) who clean the hangars where the N9 is asembled and one Nokia CEO(I can't say his name but it starts with an E, ends with a P and it has LOP in the middle).
They all said the consumer device has a hardware KEYBOARD.
My point beeing, no one posting here knows anything yet and the ones they do will keep it to themselves.

About having to redo the UI and remove parts, He does not go into reasons Why but i was told independently the reason.
Edit: sorry i deleted my other post i was going to write it again but you already replied.
look on the mailing lists there's even a Nokia dev complaining about it he does not go into reasons but I was told why independently

1st day in, 4 posts, no proof whichever...
trust requires a little more then that
i say: there is only going to be ONE Maemo 6 device from NOKIA this year (as Elop had to fess up):
the RM-680 certified by FCC.
and unless it is a commercial hit, that'll be the last Maemo / MeeGo dev we'll see from NOKIA
