So did Office 2007 with their ribbon interface for that manner. I think testing it in the lab loses some of that external validity =P

Are you implying that once it's released, complaints that roll in will actually get addressed and fixed? I'm still suffering from 'FIXED IN FREMANTLE' and 'WONTFIX' shell shock even a couple years later, way, way later after having already owned and used (yes, with my very hands) that product.
Just saying.
