Never underestimate the power of first-impressions and the out-of-box experience. Even a few seconds use can expose the folly of something overlooked during those months or even years of development. Been there, dealt with that-- with Nokia devices included.
So did Office 2007 with their ribbon interface for that manner. I think testing it in the lab loses some of that external validity =P

Interesting addition to that line of thinking, because I happen to think the revamped interface was long overdue and even though there's a curve, and I occasionally forget where things are now, I'm still fond of the silly thing.

But I risk proving ragnar's point so I'll shut up now.

Do Quim or I have to create it?

Hey,

I have read this whole entire thread.. And I agree with the community.. The phone app should have those filters and I do think that it won't make it complicated or anything like that..

Here's a VERY ROUGH sketch (because I am using MS Paint and it's 3:15 AM and I am extremely tired) of IMHO how it should look like..

This way, again IMHO, I think it will be very easy to use/understand, very effective, and best of all it totally goes with the rest of the OS's UI and it's simple; not complicated.

EDIT: I just thought of this idea too.. the pop-up menu would also have a search button too (maybe under the "All" or whatever a good name would be for that, maybe "Default"?)...

When someone presses the Search button, people then can search a name of phone number (just to see if a certain person called or no)..

Meh, I don't know if that's a good idea, but I am just throwing it out there..

Bandora, this is precisely what the Brainstorm tool is all about. Otheriwise your nice sketch will be forgotten after 100 extra thread posts.

Just saying.
Precisely. The Diablo UI is actually the Chinook UI (Maemo 4.0) that was done during early 2007 and released on October 2007 together with the N810. The time to fine tune the Fremantle UI based on real user feedback is about now, and not in 6-12 months.

I hope that if Nokia change the idea and put tabs or other thing to filter the calls, the "all-calls list" remains as the default one.

I'm all for options (so don't mind if they're added) but I love the way it's now with all calls in the same list. And I can't be the only one, am I?

Exactly!

And I don't mind creating and managing this Brainstorm topic. I'll round up all the thoughts in this thread. I may be slow doing it because I came down really sick with something yesterday, but I'll do it.

EDIT: Here's the new Brainstorm proposal: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=33830

You're definately right.. I just thought of posting that idea here since it's related to the topic and it's really a very rough sketch as you can see.. maybe someone can polish it and post it in the correct "brainstorm" topic?

The "Expenses Widget" proposal has been moved to its own thread. Please continue discussion of that topic there.
