It was quite a long and complex scenario that you described.. Main thing is that QSpot now seems to work again. The problem might have something to do with some new way of Spotify handling playlists (it is now possible with spotify to add new playlists without actually adding them to the playlistcontainer, for instance). But strange it is, indeed. Thank you very much for your comments and feedback, I hope that QSpot now will continue to work!

I think I found out the problem, at least some of it. My scenario:

I added a playlist on my desktop PC(before this problem) and named it "Yellowjackets". I forgot that and didn't notice that when I loaded Spotify -client on my MacBook, it didn't show the Yellowjackets playlist on the Mac client. I have logged in to spotify on macbook maybe 10 times during the week and it hasn't shown that playlist ever until today:

I started qspot for god knows how many times on my n900 and suddenly it loaded the playlists once (see my last post) and showed the "Yellowjackets" in the end of list. After that it didn't load them anymore, BUT THEN i started spotify on my MacBook once again and suddenly it added the Yellowjackets in the end of the playlists. And now my qspot works again everytime i run it (at least the last 5 times).

Strange, isn't it? But what might cause this? Hurricanes? Earthquakes? Cosmic background radiation?

It is a possibility that the problem with processing playlists could have something to do with e.g, handling of date formats. Have you recently changed names of some of your playlists, or added some new one(s)?

Now when loading of playlists works again, do you still get the unsupported date character error message if starting qspot from the xterminal?

This is the output from xterm:

......................
~ $ qspot
Unsupported date format character at 1 (%-d.%-m.)
Got here too..
"User (my user name) logged in.."
Fetch root playlist container..
......................

Nothing else happens after this. The longest time i have waited is between 15-20 minutes.

ugh.

?

Yes, this comes up instantly when i press enter after qspot in xterm "Unsupported date format character at 1 (%-d.%-m.)"

Ok, thanks for the info. Then it at least seems like that message has nothing to do with the playlist problem.

All I can say is: well done! After a bit of strange network behaviour (which probably has nothing to do with QSpot) it now works brilliantly :-)

Thanks a lot for your feedback! The playlist loading problem has been very strange indeed, it however seems to be related to the Spotify service itself, as the problem occured with other clients as well.

This seems to be due to an old version of the openspotify library, which QSpot depeds upon. Have you installed the app from the extras-devel repository, or by downloading the package from the garage page. You could try to force an update of the library to the latest version by running the command

apt-get install libopenspotify

as root from the xterninal (assuming that you have the extras-devel repository enbabled). Hope this helps!
