Keep in mind that Nokia already has announced at least one device with ST Ericsson U8500, dual ARM Cortex A9 1.2 GHz coming in 2011. MeeGo or Symbian, that is the question:

They're not quoting anything specific, let alone specs.

IE: on other products, did you always have to "let good times roll" or you always "couldn't beat that feeling", etc?

Or even better: Start using qemu (and perhaps KVM) and port wine.

In the UK advert for iPad, the voiceover stated:

"It's incredibly powerful"

The image on screen showed the device displaying some pie charts.

The point I was making was that in the advertising world of smoke and mirrors, having the Intel tag on a smartphone could go a long way.

The desktop atom boards typically have fans on the gmch chip, not on the cpu. The desktop atoms (atleast Atom 330) have all power saving features disabled/absent.

It might be true that 1080p on singlecore Atom is impossible indeed, but Cortex A9 is equally helpless at 1080p. Not that it matters, an Omap3 or Omap4 would use the IVA/IVAHD for decoding, and atom would need something similar, like the previously mentioned ION on desktop.

My prediction is that the N9 will be released late March and have an ARM CPU.
Because it's obvious there's a short and long term benefit in having same platform work on ARM and X86 and being able to build your company software stack on both and have it work on many different SoCs etc without difficulty. MeeGo gives companies freedom to select hardware and easily deploy on to new hardware.

=> Make many types of devices with different hardware specs with ease.

Well, that tagline would be right at the bottom of the poster, after a list of the kind of uninnovative innovations i was talking avbouit before.

And yeah, all adverts do it, that's what we were saying.

one particularly annoying apple ad on the radio in the past couple of years had various people, with pc woes, whose lives were transformed into trouble free computung bliss when they bought a mac

"I had a digital camera, and nobody could tell me which cable i needed, then i got a mac, and it was all so much simpler"

Yeah mate, first of all where'd you get your camera with no cable from, and second, if nobody knows what lead you need to connect to a pc, it's not likely to be easier to find someone who knows how to connect it to a mac..
Anyways...
"THE POWER OF AN INTEL PROCESSOR IN YOUR POCKET"

You got to admit, that would shift a lot of units, and, with that sort of processing power, seeing a lot of desktop software ports wouldn't be entirely out of the question.

Intel is such a strong brand that no commercial is needed. It is enough with a small badge or picture or a snippet saying "Intel inside".

In fact this is a really nice trick. Since current mobiles don't have a sticker saying "ARM inside", any kind of sticker will do the trick.

If you add a sticker saying "8086 inside" or "mips inside" it will be assumed to be a benefit (from people that don't know what '8086' is), when compared to current mobiles that don't say "XXX inside".

However, if there was such a sticker (ARM inside) then using another one (Intel inside) would not be such a benefit, unless it was accompanied with promotional videos.
