what bands do you usually have it on? e.g. 3g gsm dual
you could try removing some applications and make a list of what you have removed and see if it makes any difference, then you can rule out which ones cause problems. then gradually re-introduce your programs(apps)
has your n900 every run out of battery or have you seen it getting low and just instinctivly plugged it into charger?
which power are you using v47 did you do the blacklist thing?

echo "blacklist bq27x00_battery" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
no i havent done the black list thing.. i am always using gsm..not dual nor 3g..i hav seen my N900 run out of battery and shutdown.

However I am going to try, at least for the sake of cord's sanity.

Firstly, I don't trust your new battery. Unless you bought an official battery (doubtful) the chances are it is NOT the capacity advertised....

Secondly, from those initial powertop graphs I can see you have a ton of junk running all the time. The N900, while a pocket computer is not THAT powerful.

Powertop.
Powertop will show what is keeping the device from going to 'sleep'. The lines about C1, C2, C3 and C4 are the most important. Of these c4 ia the most important. Ideally, when 'asleep' the CPU should be in C4 over 90% of the time. The time in C4 mode should be above 1500ms. The more stuff you run at once, the harder it is for the CPU to achieve good sleep times.

what you are going to do:

1. Install pastebinit
2. Remove all widgets from the desktop.
3. Put phone in offline mode.
4. Turn phone off, remove battery for 20 seconds.
5. Replace battery and switch back on.
6. Tell phone to stay in offline mode.
7. Wait 4 minutes.
8. Open xterm and type:

Code:
sudo powertop >> output & sudo powertop >> output & sudo powertop >> output
9. Quickly lock phone and wait 4 minutes.
10. Connect your phone to the internet and type into xterm:

Code:
cat ./output | pastebinit
11. Paste the url here.
1st---what is pasterbinit and what does it do?
2nd--i bought a battery and returned it..i will buy a new one..plzz tell me how to check it weder its giving me full capacity
3rd--i am informing you what happens after i do this
4th--i am really sorry for bodering..its a forum..i seek help..and m gratefull to u that you are trying ur best.since i am a noob i hav nowere else to go other than asking help from you guys.thnx a lot

""sudo powertop >> output & sudo powertop >> output & sudo powertop >> output"" shud i jst paste this whole thing in xterm including output and & ???

I ran an interesting experiment yesterday.
I haven't installed the battery script yet, but here's what I did:
- Charged my battery to the max, 1260 mAH reported
-Drained it, by setting kernel limits to 1150 1150, and decompressing a 14GB archive
- That left me with about 22% charge, 275 mAH reported
- Browsed heavy flash websites, viewed a couple of vids on youtube, and played a flash game on FB
- That left me with 5% charge left, my aim
- echoed 10 for vfs cache pressure
- Set kernel limits at 250 1000 (the way I always do)
- Left the phone standby

Results:
14:45 hrs. have passed by, device still alive, no low battery beeps, can't know what charge is left because I bet it would reboot if I just went to the desktop...
