Okay, I think I got it. Your IM (I don't know about SMS) screen name is not stored in the same place as your Contacts "My information" name.

So, go to "Availability" in the status bar. Below left, click on the IM account you want to change. Edit "Screen name". Now this is the important part: Make sure you click "Save" on this screen AND the previous screen. Now, all your NEW messages should have your NEW name. I hope. Worked for me.

It worked on IM. Not on SMS. Thank you for the help friend!

For the sms thing, maybe programming i get there
