Both companies have enough resources to hold eachother.
There's no "merger" yet. It's a strategic alliance.

Well yeah the merger is now possible, but only when the very non Microsoft, NSN(over 60 000 people working from Nokia in NSN, 1/2 of Nokia's workforce) will be listed separate from Nokia, like talked for some time already.
For now it's still far from merger, but in a future i can actually see it possible while not likely.

This so-called N950 might be nice and pretty, but spending a ton of cash on something that you know will have ZERO support from Nokrosoft is crazy. Or maybe Nokrosoft are smart: they want to release it, dump it, so that people on this forum have something new to complain about for the next 1 to 2 years

Well, Microsoft currently tells, WP8 will be ready in the latter half of 2012. So even if Elop said "we seem to need to wait another 12 months for Meego" in his burning-platform speech, still it would be faster to get Meego high end device out than WP8 high end device out.

And WP7 is not suitable for high end devices, because it is not thread safe and cannot be run on dual-core platforms.

So, yes it will be kind of funny, but also should be embarrassing to Elop. Of course Elop may want to sabotage Meego-development further to make sure it won't be ready until and of 2012 and then he has excuse to cancel it altogether.

Wake up. N950 is not a MeeGo device, it is Maemo6/Harmattan. It is a "MeeGo related" device. Everybody at Nokia hated MeeGo, nobody there cared for it.

All I'm interested in now is an official announcement from Nokia concerning the N950...but with the new CEO...feels like I'm gonna wait quite a while.

If they ever release N950, I am pretty sure, you can replace the factory OS with real Meego (as you can now do with N900) if it one day will have mobile-UX/GUI ready. If not else, then Meego and Cordia on top of it.
It won't (hopefully) take as long as WP8 is to be waited, till end of the 2012.

Would you stop making up assertions you can't possibly have proof of?

It's the truth. Symbian is (was) the heart of Nokia concerning smartphones. Maemo was a distraction that went ugly with MeeGo. The proof is in the pudding.
