It looks like the streaming service On-Live is coming to the tab!

http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/07/o...aunches-cloud/

For those that don't know, onlive lets you play games at top quality that are 'streamed' to your device. There is also a subscription price which lets you play as much as you want!

But this demo showed computer software being streamed to the Tab, including a beefy 3D modeler, Maya. Very impressive indeed.

I'm more interested in the games, though.

So what's the Android equivalent of Comic Zeal on the iPad?

That's a good question! If you do a youtube search for Android Comic reader, you'll see some examples.
eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHqgwRJgZ-4

While these readers are functional, they seem to lack the finesse of Comic Zeal.

But one thing is certain, the comic pages are destined to be better reproduced on a larger screen. With 7" you'll have to do a lot of pinching/scrolling or view comic panes individually (if this option indeed exists) to view.

Romain Guy has posted an explanation as to why 32-bit ARGB-8888 should be used as defaults for bitmaps in Gingerbread:

Better quality, far improved performance.

Actually, that's old news now. Latest news is that they're now aiming for 1.5mil sales before the year ends. THAT would be impressive.

The Viewsonic G10 is put against the Galaxy Tab! It's Tegra vs. Hummingbird:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4054/f...ance-preview/1

The initial CPU tests shows that in some test it doubles the performance of the Hummingbird and similarly improves graphics rendering by 53%! But some tests indicate otherwise.

These tests also indicate that software optimization seems to play a major role in these scores. For example, the Nexus One, running a single core snapdragon performs quite admirably compared to the Tegra 2 and much better than the Hummingbird. In addition, the SGX540 decimates the Tegra2's ULP in the Neocore test.

While I don't doubt that Tegra 2 is a superior performer (in fact I fully expect it to be), these tests are a little too all over the table to be taken definitively.

That said, would I buy or wait until April for a Tegra 2 Tablet? No. As I've droned on about before, there are many metrics upon which to measure the 'quality' of a device, and computational throughput is just one of those measures. Even against the Tegra2, the Galaxy Tab performs well, and it has other very well balanced and appealing features that make it a valuable purchase for me.

Haha.. Loving it!

I fully expect that this to be a problem that I run into!

Have you tried out Dolphin Mini yet? I'm eager to learn about the new UI!
