It's only hard work if you use non-standard repos (dev/testing etc) or you fill your root partition.

How do i find out what software I am running?
Got my N900 last friday from vodafone direct, and i have just checked the updater and there is nothing there, so I wonder if i am already running it?

alinoor I had the same problem. Only problem is that my QVI Maps do not work will not load. Does your QVI Maps work?

Go to the settings dialog and scroll all the way down, tap "About product" and look for "Version"

Easiest way is to open the phone, go to dial pad and type *#0000# and then hit call. If you got it direct from Vodafone I suspect you will have the variant ending in 205 which means you have no update available yet as not released yet for Vodafone variant

Okay I have done that and it says:
2.2009.51-1.205.1
What version is that?

That looks like PR 1.1 Vodafone UK Variant. There is no update available for the Vodafone variant at present that I have heard of. The generic UK variant is 203 not 205 and that's the one that finally came up to PR 1.1.1 several weeks after most of the rest of the world.

Okay cool thanks Any word on when us poor vodafone customers will get an update?

i also had that problem. also i downloaded an app straight after and it came up with terms and conditions for fw update. not the app. but app installed!! even reset my phone for me...strange!! but its all super super now
