it is impossible, no other difficulties. there are 3 options: announce after device has arrived everywhere, give an safe estimate (read: device most probably could be available before that and then the devices will be prematurely be sold or kept in warehouses) or tight estimate and take a risk of delay.

and I would of rather them announced after retailers had received stock. I do appreciate them announcing that they started shipping from factories but all it has done is create rumors for shipping, no good.

Nokia have taken off the N900 comment. No mention anywhere now that they will be selling the handsets tommorow???? WTF is going on????

How can it be pushed back if Nokia started shipping Nov 10th?
How about because all of the first devices available are going to genuine nokia flagship stores and online stores? First corporate customers have already had their devices here in Finland so the first batch was reaaaally small.

I seriously think there is some sort of component shortage on these cortex chips...

But I do agree that Nokia should start to hold back these "SHIPPING started!"-announcements and just stick to these "in stores now!"-announcements because average Joe doesn't know how long does it take for, let's say 200 000 devices, to get from factory to home door/shop.
