You could leave the AM/PM out. If I'm at home, or around town, I'm usually aware if it's night or day. But I can see where it may be different for those traveling or something...Still, it could be an option to just leave AM/PM indicators out.

You could have a little notice that pops up right after install saying something along the lines of: "NOTE - the minutes applet needs to be enabled in the control panel."

*edit* Uhh, I guess this is kind of what "Sjgadsby" said. I should have read through the posts a bit better, but still think it's a good idea.

Of course, this could work too

I just use 24 hour time, so am/pm isn't necessary. I do recall once, though, long ago (about 35 years ago) taking a nap, and waking up at about 6:00 and having no idea whether it was morning or evening. I had no clocks that indicated am or pm, and I didn't know if I needed to get ready for work or for something else. I finally turned on the TV to find out the time of day. At certain times of the year, at 6 it's almost impossible to tell the difference quickly.

Sometimes you just can't believe what the sun is telling you, so a clock confirmation is helpful. I like the two-space clock application exactly as is.

I was in a cave once when my fellow sphelunkers and I had a terrible time figuring out whether it was day or night after we collapsed and slept for a really long time.

Yeah, I've actually fallen asleep and have woken up wondering the same: day or night? But still - if that hasn't happened in 35 years for you, and rarely for me, it isn't such a big deal for some of us. Definitely see where you guys are coming from, though. But the option to turn on/off AM/PM indication would be nice, if not asking too much of Fiferboy. I've found that if you make the font large enough you can actually make the am/pm indicator disappear.

Occasionally, I think everyone has those moments where you can't really estimate the time within +- 6 hourse; but I prefer 24h anyway (solving that), so I don't care about AM/PM indicators. You 12h people create your own problems; you deserve to suffer.

But it's so hard to adapt. D:
Though, 24h time does seem so much more reasonable....like the metric system...
Also, I just noticed I'm a senior member now. When did that happen? I feel special.

Welome aboard! Now you, too, can partake of the ineffectual squealing of chastised *****s raving against senior members.

Okay, so a metapackage does not work. I successfully got it to build into a metapackage, install properly as a metapackage, and now have a meta, an hours, and a minutes install files.

Problem is, it still only loads one of the plugins after install. This time it is the hours plugin. I would rather it load neither to just be less confusing. At least with hours there is no "half-display" because it depends on minutes being loaded to get its information.

I'm guessing this method is of no use to anyone, since it is just more work installing more packages. I wish there were a command or a dbus method to load a plugin without having it in the statusbar.conf file under ~/.osso/hildon-desktop

Hmm, that gives me a horribly clever, hackish, plan. I could just have one entry for the entire clock that loads the minutes plugin, then have the minutes plugin manually load an hours entry in the statusbar.conf file. It could remove it on unload too. There are potential problems, but it could be workable...

Sorry if this has been asked before (I did search): Is it possible to choose an mp3 as alarm sound? And must the volume be at 100%? The built-in alarm kills me because the volume is too high too soon and there is no way to reduce the volume. Can this clock do this?

By the way - I love having the (digital) time in the status bar

I don't know if this is feasible or even already suggested, but would it be possible to add the ability to sync the NIT's clock to an atomic time server?
