I did not change the icon that I found in the 0.4.2.1 source code.
So if that is the same as of Xournal 0.4.1, then yes, it should be the same.
For the sake of curiosity, why were you expecting a different icon ?

If you've got root access try these commands:
dpkg -r xournal
dpkg -r libart-2.0
dpkg -r libart-2.0-2
dpkg -r libgnomeprint2.2
dpkg -r libgnomeprint2.2-0
dpkg -r libgnomeprint2.2-data
dpkg -r libgnomecanvas
dpkg -r libgnomecanvas2-0
dpkg -r libgnomecanvas2-common
dpkg -r ghostscript (OPTIONAL)
Note that some of them may not be installed in your system.
Go ahead and remove all of them.
If you have gnumeric installed, leave libart untouched.

weird thing is, that xournal works when invoked thru the console.
