since nokia fixed my broken N900 (the usb port broke and your will break soon...)
the os is terribly slooow.... i can't watch flash videos anymore its too slow...

I see nothing particular, except xOrg consuming about 2% of CPU...
i dont see either unknown daemon or other stuff running in backgroung...
il will try again to flash...
install the first release of Mameo, and then update from the device

All these posts makes evident that we need some benchmark tool (possibly relying on default nokia apps), in order to test slow downs.
Examples:
test1 -> render an html file
test2 -> open and close an application
test3 -> cpu consumption while playing a video
test4 -> open 10 apps together
test5 -> ...

Try running apt-get autoclean / autoremove see if it makes a difference
