Well.. I overclocked my N900 to 900MHz and now Sygic is running very smoothly with these settings:

fps=20.0
antialias=false
PositionFiltering=false

Before overclocking the maximum FPS value was 16.0 and if I tried to increase it I faced some lagging and jerking when map moved. Now there's no lagging or jerking with 20.0 fps and it looks really smooth while driving

I have TomTom (Teleatlas maps), and now Sygic, with whatever map source they use.. but in any case, whatever map provider, it all comes down to the map source: The local city mappers, who sold their maps to someone else and so on, all the way up to TeleAtlas or Navteq or whatever. If these maps aren't properly made, e.g. one-way roads not flagged as such, then Sygic or TomTom or Ovi or whatever will route you the wrong way. Which is the case where I live: The local maps are horrible, due to the city authorities. Not TomTom, or TeleAtlas, or Sygic.

hi,

sygic loses position after about 5 minutes when i lock the screen.
i'd like to use sound navigation with the headset while driving on my bike.

how do i tell sygic or the n900 at all to not turn off the gps?
navit didn't have that problem as far as i remember.

thanks!

hi,
Sygic turns off gps after 1 minute on the background to save energy and battery (one of the requirements for Ovi store). It will be probably changed in next update...

routing is really really bad on sygic

today it took me downa atwisty b road that had 40mph - 50mph limits instead of taking me down the bypass that run next to the b road

really hope they improove this in the update

Hey, just because your experience hasn't been good you don't have to rubbish the sygic app. Myself and many others are happily using this and are grateful for it.

yep iam gratefull for it i just hope they dont abandon it and update it to fix a few things its defently a god send though and iam happy i bought it

infact they should be thanked for supporting the n900 and sticking with it even though they had problems

my main gripe is routing its good to have faith in your sat nav and i must say with some of the routes sygic has chosen its making it hard for me to trust it

i also hope they find a way to smoothen the map scrolling out for general users that dont want to mess with ini files etc

like i say iam very gratefull for it though appreciate them supporting the n900
