When I went into Expansys.com and clicked on mobile phones, then chose the N900. Looking back here. http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=186949

It is detailed as a smart phone, it doesn't say MMS is supported, but it doesn't suggest SMS is either so you assume both are, like every other phone in humanity that has a camera attached.

Then I came on these forums and found out it isn't a phone, it is an internet tablet and I should enjoy my time with it.

An OVI update would be nice, are we talking just the 'store', or the 'maps' and 'suite' included?

the support of nokia was always crappy. before u had bought the n900 you should have informed yourself about the behaviour of nokia. i can remember that i was waiting more than 1 and a half year for the update 2 of the n97(big). until it was released, the device was the crappiest cellphone i've ever had. yeah i even sold it before the update arrived cause it was so terrible ****. it diddnt response well, apps crashed, hell...even the cellphoned crashed at some point where the only opportunity was a complete format (omg...) so i guess if ur dooming the support of nokia, than okay , dont buy one

This is the most ridiculus behaviour i ve seen from such a big vendor like nokia.
After this upset for the PR 1.2 now Ovi store. Go figure: One of Nokia's "so called" top devices in ignorance and still in beta phase for about 6 months!!! 6 months for Ovi store?

Really, whatever faults or mistakes Nokia made in the past, you dont want to piss off those that trust your products.
Its like saying: "You bought this very expensive device, we got your money, but hey...we dont give a **** about you anymore.

Yes, I agree completely. It is horrible behaviour.
And I sense that the same arrogance is shown in bugs.maemo.org by the Nokia devs. It is really hard to convince the developers that something is wrong with the device. I don't get the feeling that they are willing to simply test the behaviours and see for themselves. Every detail must first be convincing through silly argumentation before anything happens. And no information or feedback from them whether they have the intention to fix things or not, as always.
Frustrating!
This is not the way open communitys work, Nokia seem to have misinterpreted the basics of the ideology. I have been patient for quite a while now, but the whole thing starts to look just ridiculous.

Oh man this is sad:

From Peters twitter account:
"#Twitter widget for #N900 now in Ovi Store. A bit difficult to find in Apps/Social Networks category"

This probably the biggest fail I have seen in Nokia's communication during 10 years.

To answer myself
"Peter is heading marketing in MeeGo Devices@Nokia."
I think that it would do good for Peter if he went to talk their app developers once in a while :|

Oh yes because nobody would think of looking in the social networks category for a Twitter app. I know marketing people are usually all idiots but no need for them to treat the rest of us like that.

That said I note that you can currently buy the Angry Birds level pack, but it's only the extra 42 levels that were out there a month or so back, not the 100+ levels you can get on the iPhone.

Not Nokia's fault this time, but still disappointing.

I only have mod power in this subforum and not N900 so i can't merge the threads, but the update is being discussed here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=54805

I'll close this thread.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?
